THEATRE OM
THEATRE OM is an independent professional theatre based in Moscow, opened on August 4, 2025, by the students of Roman Evgenievich Akimov — participants of the First Public Theatre Guild, a unique project established with the support of the Moscow Government.
Theatre OM became a natural continuation of the Workshop and preserved its essential foundation: we understand theatre not as a form of performance and not as a platform for dispute, but as a space of encounter and shared presence. What matters here is not simply “speaking about problems,” but moving toward their source — toward the place from which everything arises, and toward what stands behind it.
The artistic direction of the theatre is connected with the concept of aletheia — the disclosure of truth as an experience of presence. In this sense, Theatre OM develops as an ontological theatre: we are interested not in the clash of ideas, but in the exploration of human existence itself — the inner world of a person, their action, choice, responsibility, and possibility of transformation.
The ethical foundation of our work is respect for the uniqueness of every human being. We consciously refuse judgment and comparison as instruments of power and separation. In our theatre, a person is not a “type,” not a “function,” and not an object of measurement. For us, the creative process is more important than external effectiveness: we do not produce an effect — we create conditions in which a living manifestation becomes possible.
That is why we speak not only of a performance, but of a phenomenon — an event that does not happen “for the audience,” but together with it. If, during the action, a moment of inner awakening is born, when perception becomes more precise and whole, theatre ceases to be an author’s statement and becomes a shared existential experience and investigation.
The meaning of the theatre’s movement is expressed in our motto: to become a light for those who stand on a road without stars.
“Theatre is not representation, but a phenomenon. It exists only in the moment of living presence —when a person becomes a witness to their own soul.”
